You Get What You Pay For

In this article I'm going to reveal to you some of the horror stories that I have heard from supplement manufacturers. I will share with you my research about the formulation, quality control, and effectiveness of various dietary supplements on the market. I tell you this not to frighten you but to make you aware; you get what you pay for.

Food Allergies

I generally recommend a rotation diet when a food elimination program is necessary. Personal food allergies have given me over 29 years experience with a rotation diet.

Usually an elimination diet is not lower in kcals but consists of foods that are thought to have a lower probability of causing allergic reactions. Most of the elimination diets that I see published are still full of things that are possible allergens for many individuals. The diet should ideally be different foods than are eaten ordinarily by that particular person.

Multi-Vitamins and Minerals

by Dr. Frank O. McGehee, CCN

What do we take a multi-vitamin for? Most people would answer to stay healthier, but do not know what their health/disease ratio is. As we look at each other, it is very obvious that there are no two people alike, so why would each of us take the same multi-vitamin tablet? I’m referring to Centrum and Centrum Silver mostly. We purchase these products because marketing and advertisement works. In reality, the amount of vitamins/minerals in these products is so minimal that the public should consider a slightly more expensive brand.

“Universal anti-oxidant”

by Dr. Frank O. McGehee, CCN

The nutrient vitamin C was first isolated in 1928 from citrus foods by Dr. Albert Szent Gyorgi, but it was not until 1972, when Dr. Linus Pauling, recipient of two Nobel prizes, explained its great benefits as a treatment for the common cold. It is a powerful anti-oxidant that all of us need. There are multiple ways it helps us live a better life.

“Improving glaucoma with nutrition”

by Dr. Frank McGehee

Glaucoma is an eye disease caused by a high intraocular presure and has no cure. Conventional medical therapy includes topical eye drops and oral medication. Can the ocular pressure be even more controlled with the nutrition added to standard therapy? If the blood flow to the eye can be increased, the answer is yes.

“An absolute must for your heart”

by Dr, Frank O. McGehee, CCN

Calcium, magnesium, and potassium are absolute musts for keeping your heart at optimal performance. The correct ratio of these minerals is essential if you have heart problems.
